NIF 1.3 MJ Briefing Invitation - September 15th, 8 am PT

September 13, 2021

By now, you have heard of the record-breaking shot with 1.3 megajoule fusion yield on the NIF on August 8. This experimental result, decades in the making, is a significant breakthrough for inertial fusion. (https://lasers.llnl.gov/news/nif-experiment-puts-researchers-threshold-fusion-ignition)

LLNL has issued the following invitation:

We are excited to discuss these results with you and to express our gratitude for the contributions and support from so many over the decades leading to this shot. This achievement would not have been possible without many years of dedication by the community.

We would like to invite you to attend a briefing on this shot on Wednesday, September 15 at 8am PT. This briefing, intended for a broad audience, will cover inertial confinement fusion, the components of this experiment, and the initial results and their implications.
